Growing Tired and Weary
My family has been in a time of practicing patience. I feel like there is a time that being patient goes from anticipation to annoyance and frustration, and then after so long to numbness and becoming weary and tired. Like we are just in this fog, waiting for it to lift so we can move forward but not sure if our legs even will have the strength to take the next step.
We are growing tired and weary, but we have our hope in the Lord and in Isaiah 40:30-31, the Bible says that
Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength.
and not just renew their strength, it goes on to say that
They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.
Hope In the Lord
Our hope is certainly in the Lord. At times, that’s the only thing keeping us going.
When I was thinking of illustrations for this verse, The Rescuers Down Under movie came to mind. There are a couple of really neat scenes where the boy is very confidently riding on the giant eagle, but I was drawn to the photo of his first ride- when he was nervous and didn’t know what to expect when he put his trust in the eagle.
That image seems to capture how I feel right now. I’m up for the ride, I’m hanging on tight, and I trust that God knows exactly where to go and when, but that doesn’t mean that I’m not still feeling nervous. (I am human after all.) I don’t know the plans but He does. My hope is in Him and I’m counting on His wings to carry us through to the next destination.
My Help
Why is that God is constantly telling us to “not fear”? Think maybe we have a tendency to react in fear?
Over and over, Scripture tells us that God is able to handle anything that comes our way, that He loves us, that He will never leave us or forsake us. We are repeatedly reminded to not fear and to cast all our cares on Him.
He is our help in times of trouble and will fight for us.
So, once again, I hand over every anxiety, fear of the unknown, and care to the One who is more than capable to carry me through.
Thank you, God, for your ever-lasting, never-tiring, always-patient, forever-loving way with me. I don’t deserve the kind of grace that you give me every single morning, but I am grateful you do.
Bible Journaling Details
This page was done by first looking up images on Google of the Rescuers Down Under characters. I used my phone as a lightbox and placed the images I found under my Bible’s thin page to trace around the outline of the characters.

After I traced them, I started drawing the details and traced my pencil lines with a Faber-Castell Pitt pen size XS.
I colored using Neocolor ii Water-soluble Crayons and then activated them with a water brush. More on that in the above link (The Lord is my Light) as well.
