Foggy Brain
Have you ever been out on a very foggy day? I remember driving through some pretty terrifying fog before where I could barely see past the front of my car. I’ve never been so scared to make a left turn.
That’s how my brain has been feeling lately. Like I’ve been walking around in a fog. Ever felt that way? Like no matter which direction you look, it’s difficult to see past your own nose?
We are making some pretty big life decisions right now and no matter which direction we look, we seem to get different advice and thoughts and frankly it’s creating more fog and confusion.
Prayer Changes Things
This morning, during a time of prayer, God gave me this visual picture.
I saw the ocean but it was covered in fog. I couldn’t see the horizon, the sky, or anything beyond the waves. As I was trying to see, God took a deep breath and softly blew across the waters, pushing away the fog to reveal a beautiful sunset and the horizon.
I think this was significant because the horizon isn’t really an ending. It wasn’t like I could see the finish line of a race, instead it was more of a promise of being carried through and seeing the beauty in the process.
He cleared the fog to reveal the beauty without necessarily giving the answer.
“You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you.”
Isaiah 26:3
Then it goes on to say in verse 4,
“Trust in the LORD forever, for the LORD, the LORD himself, is the Rock eternal.”
Trusting
So, that’s it. If we want to stop being in a fog, we need to get out of our own brains and hand everything over to the only one who sees CLEARLY no matter the weather. The way to peace is trust.
So that’s exactly what we are choosing to do. Trust God to take care of us.
We will do our best to prayerfully seek and step in the direction we feel led and trust that He will take us the rest of the way.
The peace comes in knowing that we serve a God who loves us beyond our understanding and as long as we are serving Him, He will provide.
When we fully trust Him, we can relax. We aren’t powerful enough to screw up all the plans He has for us.
If God can, in all His majesty, part the Red Sea to make a way for the Israelites, I’m pretty sure He can create a path for us to find our way too, even if we get detoured.
